Ten minutes

Ten minutes. I have ten minutes before S picks me up for lunch. I've had a mad morning of back-to-back meetings already. I have a mad rush of meetings after lunch also.

10 minutes for myself out of 960 waking minutes? That's 1.04%! The rest a flurry of pulsating relationships and a blur of demanding work.

You do the math.

In my last meeting, something very different happened. Someone asked me to draw three circles - one representing my work, one representing my relationships, and one representing myself. Guess which was smallest?

So my mantra now is: Expand the circle..

That's why i left everything and went travelling.. although now after so long i think it's getting a bit unbalanced.. no work circle at all (which is nice) but relationships one shrinking of course as internet is the only way to keep them.. and I miss the fire drills :P

It's what I call the I-paradox: how can I do good if I don't do me good? Me time is essential for sanity, if not for anything else! Love your post!

They do say that when you get your salary, you should first pay yourself! Maybe we should do the same thing with our time!

Expanding things may also mean more things, more clutter, less clarity, and nonetheless: less time?...

@ xh, Thanks! I hope I get anywhere close!

@ mcsilly, you are among the lucky few, really. :) Please don't miss the fire drills. They are just chaos!

I like the analogy of the circle. The relationship seems larger than my personal one. Did your circle grow in size or is it the same as yet?

Interesting blog. I'm reading so many of them via blogadda.com!
